Unlock the Secrets of
Drawing & Painting
Art with Ali for Adults, I teach the fundamental skills of drawing and painting such as mark making, line, tone, composition, scale, colour mixing and paint handling while encouraging my students to embrace their natural way of seeing and to develop their own style. I believe that technical skills are not an end in themselves but a way of opening up our unique artistic potential.
We will draw knowledge and inspiration from the works of artists past and present, world famous and less well known along the way.
Each course is eight week’s long and runs in line with school term dates. The first four week block will be devoted to drawing skills and the following, after the half term, to painting.
Every course is based around a theme which will include, for example, mark making, still life, life drawing and portraits, landscapes, en plein air. Over the course of an academic year, students will be introduced to the following media: graphite, ink, fine liners, collage, charcoal, chalk pastel, oil pastel, watercolour, gouache, acrylic and oil paint.
These classes are aimed towards those who have an interest in creating art but have never taken art classes, or for those who haven't done any art for a while and wish to revisit their passion. Young adults who are thinking of applying to art schools would also benefit.
The classes will be relaxing, supportive, informative and you will be amazed at what you can achieve.
The course runs on Wednesdays 7pm -9pm and Thursdays 10am – 12pm.
The most economical plan is to sign up for the full eight weeks, but you are also welcome to book a four week block or, if you give me a couple of days’ notice, to drop in for single sessions.
It is £120 for each eight week block, £64 for a four week drawing block, or £70 for a four week painting block, payable in advance.
One-off drawing classes are £16.50, painting classes are £18.50, payable on entrance.
All materials and refreshments are included.
